A DAY created to celebrate local produce and businesses has been declared a success.
Brand SA senior marketing manager Alice Boorman said I Choose SA day, held on Saturday, had received great support, particularly on social media with the hashtags prevalent.
She said there was a will out there to support local brands and local jobs, and this event would help signpost state-based businesses, with a “huge” number of SA brands signing up to be part of a directory.
“We have more than 3500 businesses registered,” she said. “There is a whole scope of business out there that people may not realise are South Australian.”
The event had a range of activities such as a stall at Ferment the Festival and a market trail at the Adelaide Central Market.
“It’s a bit too soon for any numbers from Saturday but a lot of the brands we’ve previously worked with say they’ve had a huge improvement in sales and some have even brought on new staff,” she said.
“We’d like to see it as an annual event but we hope SA is kept top of mind all the time.”
