EWES sold “above expectations” at the Kapunda off-shears, according to Landmark Beaton Kapunda principal Greg Beaton.
With a yarding of about 3300, slightly up on last year, he said breeding and young ewes sold on a par, if not stronger, than other recent Mid North sales.
The sale topper, a case of “good ewes, good money, was a pen of 95 April/May 2016-drop, Pindari-blood, from Neumann Family Trust, Marrabel, which sold to $244, bought by Neil and Grace Kroehne, Belmont, Springton.
RA Dunstan, Julia, offered a pen of 134, 1.5-year-old, Gum Hill-bld ewes, August-shorn, sold at $210.
GR&VJ Schrapel, Hamilton, had 32, 1.5yo, Gum Hill-bld, at $206.
Wurunya Vale, Saddleworth, had 81, 1.5yo, Nyowee-bld, at $195.
EC Wilson, Kapunda, had 126, 1.5yo Hilton Heath-bld ewes at $192.
WK&BD Doecke, Stockwell, had 55, 2013-drop ewes, September-shorn and Bunyara-bld, sold at $176.
A second run of 55 of the Doecke 2013-drop, also Bunyara-bld, sold to $163.
R,P,R Kleinig, Moppa, had 41, 2014-drop, Pepperwell-bld, at $168.
The same price was also paid for a run of 110, 4.5yo, Gum Hill-bld, from GR&VJ Schrapel, and a pen of 145, 5.5yo, also Gum Hill-bld, from RA Dunstan.
Mr Beaton said there was some evidence of the tough season in the wether lamb offering, with these a little cheaper than in recent sales across the region.
RC,WK&PR Dorrington, Marrabel, had 151, freshly shorn May/June 2017-drop wethers, Mernowie-bld, at $109.
JL&MJ Wendt & Sons, Kapunda, offered 194, April/May 2017-drop, Mernowie-bld, at $102.
The sale ended with a British breed ram sale with White Suffolk rams sold to $800, and Poll Dorsets to $750.
