THE Legendairy town of Mount Schank has been immortalised on film with a new video, highlighting the community spirit and contribution of those that live there.
Dairy Australia’s community project manager Natasha Busbridge said the video provides “fantastic insight into a connected dairy community”.
“From dairyfarmers to community members, this video highlights the vital role the dairy industry plays in communities like Mount Schank,” she said.
“It was inspiring to see the pride Mount Schank residents had for their town.”
The town received a $2500 community grant to upgrade the popular playground at the local Tennis Club – a community hub which brings local families together.
Mount Schank was selected as the SA winner for the Legendairy capital competition – a celebration of Australia’s regional communities.
Town nominator Kylie Boston says dairyfarmers have been the backbone of the club and community for decades.
“There’s a long history of connection between the club and the dairy industry, not only those working on farms but also in service industries,” Ms Boston said.
“Most of us have some association with the dairy industry and dairy means a lot to the area.
“We’re quite a diverse community but there’s still great community spirit and we’re always inclusive and welcoming of new people.”
The national winner will be announced in the coming weeks, with the national winner to receive an additional $7500 to put towards its community project.
Other dairy region finalists include Poowong, Vic, Cohuna, Vic, Hannam Vale, NSW, Beaudesert, Qld, Ringarooma, Tas, Cowaramup, WA, and Simpson, Vic.
