YELTA
Yarding: 18,000
Young ewes to $211
Wethers to $105
TOUGH seasonal conditions were evident in some of the stock yarded at Yelta, Vic, on Wednesday last week, but there was still strong bidding competition.
There were 18,000 sheep and lambs yarded at the sale, and Elders Mildura, Vic, livestock manager Kelvin Fitzgerald said lighter ewes sold exceptionally well and above expectations.
“The top-end of the ewes sold to present market prices, and wether lambs sold very well,” he said.
Mr Fitzgerald said there was unlikely to be another sale held at Yelta this year, as the dry seasonal conditions, especially north of Wentworth, NSW, meant many graziers had already sold off their stock.
Making the highest price was Dalwoodman Pastoral Pty Ltd, with 333 October/November 2015-drop Anama-blood ewes, from their Manilla Station, via Wentworth, selling for $211 to Elders Swan Hill, Vic.
The first pen offered at the sale was 254 young ewes from Tara Downs, Wentworth, that sold for $203 to Elders Ouyen, Vic.
Offering the largest yarding was SA vendors the Morgan family, Mutooroo Pastoral Co, Cockburn, selling 1700 ewes from their home base, as well as 1450 from their Lilydale property and 1100 from their Mulyungarie property.
The tops of the Mulyungarie ewes was a line of 365 that made $196 to Westech Ag and the highest price from Lilydale was $151 for 270 sold to Elders Swan Hill.
Mutooroo’s top was a line of 246 young ewes at $180, while another pen of 450 made $132 to Elders Mildura and another 376 sold at $132 to BR&C. Fellow SA vendor Stephen McKeough, Dawson, sold 249 Collandra North-blds at $177.
Top Hut Banoon Pastoral Co, via Pooncarie, sold 331 East Bungaree-bld young ewes at $173, along with 316, 2.5-year-old ewes at $144.
Allanvale, Wentworth, had 200 Ridgway Advance-bld young ewes make $171.
Glen Ewan, Balranald, NSW, sold 106 Warrananga-bld young ewes at $169 and Koolaman, Euston, NSW, had 218 ewes make $162.
Springwood, Wentworth, sold 337 young ewes at $151 and Woodlands, Wentworth, sold 349 Anama-blds at $150.
Teetulpa, Yunta, sold 322 Faraway Hill-bld young ewes at $129.
