MURRAY BRIDGE
Yarding: 4600
Young ewes to $220
4.5yo ewes to $194
THE final Murray Bridge off-shears sale for the season ended on a solid note, with young ewes selling to $220.
Landmark Murray Bridge agent Kevin Keller said it was a strong sale.
“It’s a pleasing way to finish what’s been a good selling season at Murray Bridge,” he said.
Elders Murray Bridge agent Paul Keynes said there was good local interest, and strong bids from the South East, particularly on the older ewes.
“It was a good, solid sale, especially considering the dryness of the season,” he said.
Topping the sale was BL&CL Burbidge, Ettrick, with 107 young August-shorn, Benefield-blood ewes that made $220 to Elders Keith.
The same vendor also made the highest price for wethers, with 174 at $106.
The second-highest price was $210 for 96 April/May 2016-drop, July-shorn Gunallo-bld ewes from GB&WR Schenke, Brinkley.
BE Launer, Ettrick, sold 120 young Sherlock-bld ewes for $206 and JG Richards & Sons, Brinkley, sold 81 young Gunallo-bld ewes for $200
The tops of the 2.5-year-old ewes was $180 for 132 Radnor-blds from Morrell’s Pastoral, Bowhill.
There were some exceptional prices on 4.5yo ewes with DJ Fromm & Son, Purnong, selling 68 Kamora/Netley Park-blds for $194 to Nampara.
Nampara also bought 59 Ridgway-bld 4.5yo ewes from GA&JK Wagenknecht, Murray Bridge, for $188 and 136 Gunallo-bld 4.5yo ewes from JS&JG Krause, Palmer, for $176.
SN&CA Paech, Tepko, topped the 5.5yo ewes with 133 Ridgway-blds that sold for $134 to Nampara.
Only one pen of crossbred lambs was yarded; 46 from FC&KF Baker, Brinkley, sold for $105 to Midfield.
