ASHDOR White Dorper stud at Keith posted a new stud record average of $1152 at its fourth annual on-property ram sale on Tuesday last week, as it continues to grow its clientele.
Stud principal Sheree Heading lifted her sale average by $101 on 2016, selling 34 of 39 clean shedding, well-muscled rams from the Lower North to the Lower South East.
The sale’s $2100 top price was paid for lot 5, a July 2016-drop AI-bred son of Armani 8136.
It was one of the heaviest rams in the draft at 101 kilograms and had an eye muslce depth of 43mm.
It caught the eye of ME Trelaggan, buying through Landmark Beaton Agencies Kapunda.
Repeat buyers DM,JK&CD Muster, Pinnaroo, bought eight rams, while locals Kazway Contracting secured seven rams.
Ms Heading said it was a positive result and pleasing to see repeat buyers show confidence in her breeding program.
The paddock raised rams were again presented unshorn.
“They are bred for their low maintenance so I like to present them for buyers to see how they will look in their paddocks," she said.
