FLINDERS Ports expects ship loading operations at the Port of Thevenard to recommence today (Thursday).
Yesterday, the focused remedial works were completed and all safety concerns that were identified in relation to Flinders Ports’ assets at the Thevenard wharf and jetty were addressed.
The port ‘officially’ reopened yesterday for bulk loader operations, while it is anticipated that loading operations will resume with the first ship – the CSL Reliance – arriving today.
Some final minor works that do not affect the loading operations will be completed in the next week.
Flinders Ports’ engineering team and project partners will continue to develop a long-term solution to maintain the health of the jetty and ensure that the jetty will continue to be a stable and safe piece of infrastructure for the community into the future.
Flinders Port Holdings chief executive officer Vincent Tremaine was relieved the ship loading operations could recommence, two weeks ahead of schedule.
“Our team and project partners have worked hard on developing and implementing a solution to allow ship loading operations to restart as soon as possible,” he said.
“We appreciate the patience of our stakeholders and the community during this process, and we greatly look forward to seeing the CSL Reliance berth at the jetty and have operations resume as normal.”
