WITH many of the state’s Merino breeders in one room, there was a chance to celebrate the industry with drinks and a fashion parade by tafeSA students.

It was also an opportunity to recognise those within the industry, with Merino SA life membership awarded to John Daniell, White River, Poochera.

Merino SA president Ian Michael, Balaklava, said Mr Daniell was a worthy recipient.

“He’s been a fantastic Merino breeder for years but he’s also spent time on national and state committees, so we thought this was pretty fitting,” he said.

Mr Daniell has also been involved in judging at an international level, including trips to Argentina to judge Merinos.

The night was also a chance for many breeders to farewell outgoing Merino SA executive officer Cameron Hill and meet new EO Jen Light.

These photographs were taken by IAN TURNER.
