THE Agricultural Bureau of South Australia has opened its 2017 Spirit of Excellence in Agriculture awards.
Two awards are available giving young farmers and rural youth the opportunity to peruse personal and professional development to ultimately benefit their local communities.
The sustainable agriculture scholarship for young farmers is an $8000 grant for participants aged 18 to 35 to peruse further study, take a study tour or run a special project.
The rural youth bursary is a $5000 grant for young rural people aged 18 to 30, working in a rural community, not necessarily in agriculture, to undertake further study in their chosen career with an ultimate benefit to their community.
Ag Bureau chair Mark Grossman said the successful recipients for each award were chosen on their abilities, achievements, vision and motivation for success.
“The Ag Bureau of SA is proud to continue to encourage and support rural youth who are working not only in primary production but in careers that sustain rural communities,” he said.
Applications are available on the Ag Bureau of SA website and close on Monday, September 11 at 5pm.
Winners will be announced at the Ag Bureau’s Spirit of Excellence awards dinner on October 12.
