WORK has only just begun on the Kimba silo art but it is already eye-catching.
Artist Cam Scale, who is based in Melbourne, began working on the silo on August 11 and has made good progress, despite being held up for a day and a half due to rain.
“After a lot of community engagement, the main thing that came through was that people wanted a nod towards the farming history of the area” he said.
“I wanted to cover that, but not in an obvious way.”
The artwork features a young girl in a paddock.
Igniting Kimba committee member Sue Woolford said the group wanted a timeless installation.
“The girl in picture not based on anyone but can represent different people and it will never date,” she said.
The work was made possible from $53,000 in community donations and $40,000 in grants funding.
“It’s so good to see everyone come together and get so excited for this project, and I think the donations show that,” committee member Georgie Shirley said.
