JUST seven months in business and Reg Brook’s brand new Rockhampton butcher shop Parkhurst Quality Meats has shot to fame.
The stop’s already popular beef and cracked pepper entry clinched the title of Queensland’s champion gourmet sausage at the Sausage Kings competition at the Ekka.
“It’s my first shop and the first time I’ve entered the Sausage Kings,” Mr Brook said.
“We knew from customer feedback it was a good sausage based on a simple but effective combination.”
The winning sausage was developed by Mr Brook in consultation with senior butcher Ryan Cumner, who is a skilled smallgoods maker.
The winning sausage has been on sale in the new shop in Parkhurst Town Centre since it opened.
The Brooks, along with with the other Sausage King winners from the Ekka, will next compete in the Sausage Kings nationals in Melbourne in February.
