MURRAY BRIDGE
Yarding: 4100
Sucker lambs to $166
Wethers to $95
THE first Murray Bridge prime lamb sale for the season got off to a cracking start on Monday, with suckers making to $166.
Elders Murray Bridge branch manager Phil Nagel said the quality of the lambs offered was excellent, as evident by the strong bidding.
“A lot of store buyers went home empty-handed, as they were unable to compete against the processors,” he said.
Landmark Murray Bridge livestock agent Kevin Keller said the sale result was pleasing.
“Lambs sold exceptionally well, with the top-end, in particular, very strong,” he said.
Topping the market with the first pen of the day was Simmons Farms, Cookes Plains, with 82 suckers that made $166 and were sold to Thomas Foods International.
The second highest price was not far behind, with 36 lambs from DI Farley, Jabuk, making $164.
Also near the top-end of the sale was BG&TA Sonntag, Younghusband, with 93 at $162, sold to JBS.
