NUMBERS were back at the Mount Pleasant saleyards on Thursday last week, but returns were generally firm.
Landmark Mount Pleasant livestock agent David Schultz said sheep and lamb prices were in line with the July market, as was cattle.
The top price for crossbred lambs was $155 for 16 from Sonntag Estate, Tanunda, and the second highest was $150 for one from AJ Schiller, Karoonda. Both pens were knocked down to Thomas Foods International.
Merinos made to $105 for 14 from J&J Krause, Palmer, and sold to Austral.
The first pens of sucker lambs hit the saleyards, with a top price of $98 for 15 from Anthony Cooper, Mount Pleasant, who also sold a further 33 suckers at $96.
Dorper lambs made to $136 for 20 from Kalleske Enterprises, Greenock.
Hoggets were in hot demand, selling to $142 for six from M&L Roesler, Eden Valley. RD Slater, Woodside sold 10 hoggets at $132.
Rams made to $92 for four from HT Hein, Murray Bridge, while ewes made to $110 for three from HT Hein and two from I&J Johns, Keyneton.
Topping the steer section were two Angus from C Paech & K Molnar, Palmer, that made $1340. The second highest steer price was $1320 for two Murray Greys from Rondenella, Mount Torrens.
N&D Kies, Lyndoch, sold two Murray Grey steers at $1160, while M Kufkoff, Kersbrook, sold a Murray Grey steer at $1300.
Kalleske Enterprises sold one Lowline steer at $1120 and another at $1140.
Heifers made to $1100 for a Murray Grey from C Paech & K Molnar, and the same vendors also sold another Murray Grey heifer at $1040.
FJ Lewis, Charleston, topped the cow section with an Angus and a Red Poll, both $1200.
