THE Besanko family has sold their Burra property Saffron Downs at auction for $1.66 million to the Kitschke family from Jamestown.
Located only 13.5 kilometres from Burra on the Goyder Highway, 2522-hectare Saffron Downs was owned by Paul and Joanne Besanko, who ran it as a sheep and wool enterprise for the past 15 years.
On Thursday last week, 11 buyers registered for the auction at the Burra Sporting Complex.
Bidding started at $1.3m and quickly rose to $1.62m and after a short pause, was knocked down at the $1.66m price tag.
The Landmark Harcourts Real Estate sale team was led by state manager Simon McIntyre, as auctioneer, Burra/Jamestown real estate specialist John Batten, SA real estate coordinator Michelle Stacey and auction clerk Sam Quinn, Burra.
“The sale represented good buying for the purchaser and a good result for the vendors, with the low interest rate environment coupled with solid commodity prices,” Mr Batten said.
