FROM 1994 to 1998 consecutively, Simon Johnson, Jonathan Spence, Natalie Hann, Lizzy Baker and Alice Volker all won Champion Senior Herdsman at the SA Junior Heifer Expo.
Fast track 20 years and their children are exhibitors and friends at the event they loved to attend.
“It's great for us because it's a little bit nostalgic,” Mr Spence said.
“We all wondered about it when we were all here in those younger years thinking ‘I wonder if we will ever have kids here’, and it’s quite surreal it’s true.”
Mr Spence said the expo was more than leading a heifer in the ring but was a valuable experience for the participants.
“It’s the life skills you get out of it, meeting people, communication, responsibilities, respect and the friendships, which you can’t put a value on,” he said.
“All of us have met each others families as a result of meeting here.
“Certainly in the case of Natalie or myself, we're not from rural properties or farms, and we owe our careers to it.”
Throughout the years, the herdsman champions have all taken on a position on the committee.
They’ve watched generations of children progress through the expo and enjoy seeing their own children in the ring.
“The fact we are all still here today is a testament of the event,” Ms Hann said.
