LACHLAN Johnson has been named South Australia’s 2017 Young Rural Ambassador.
The Bordertown apprentice mechanic addressed fellow entrants, family members and judges at the symposium dinner at Rydges South Park Adelaide on Friday night, highlighting his involvement with rural shows, which started at Mundulla.
“I got into the agricultural industry because it’s the biggest industry in my area,” he said.
“Almost everything here comes back to agriculture in some way.”
The 19-year-old said during the next 12 months he hoped to attend as many country shows as possible.
“I am thrilled and looking forward to the opportunities and experiences ahead after winning the state final, like networking with other youth and increasing my confidence in public speaking,” he said.
