MARK Yates, Barwon Poll Dorsets, Yerong Creek, NSW, had a very exacting day adjudicating on the strong line of Poll Dorsets paraded before him.

He gave the nod for supreme exhibit to the champion ram, bred and exhibited by Frost family, Hillden Poll Dorsets, Bannister, NSW.

He had come through Ram under one and half, June/July class and was considered by Mr Yates to have plenty of eye muscle and fat cover with a good spring of rib.

He was the full brother to last years supreme ram.

The reserve champion ram paraded by Joe Scott, Valley Vista Poll Dorsets, Coolac, NSW, was thought a big powerful ram by Mr Yates.

The grand champion ewe shown by Tim Ferguson, Mallee Park Poll Dorsets, Hopetoun, showed all the characteristics of the breed according to Mr Yates.

“She is an absolute quality ewe,” he said.

The reserve champion ewe shown by Chris Squiers, Shirlee Downs, Quairading, WA, was a seriously heavy muscled sheep.
