GRAINS ambassador Andrew ‘Cosi’ Costello took to the skies to promote the fourth year of the Seed to Store Video Clip Competition – flying in to visit school students across the Eyre Peninsula to tell them all about Australia’s innovative agricultural industry and the many career options it offers.
Students at Kimba Area School, Wudinna Area School, Lock Area School, Cummins Area School, Cleve Area School and Stuart High School at Whyalla were thrilled to greet the star of South Aussie with Cosi as he threw his support behind Australia’s innovative grains industry, with about 500 students attending his visits across the two days.
The visit marks the launch of the national 2017 Seed to Store Video Clip Competition, with the grains industry running the competition alongside a series of in-school presentations which will showcase the technology, innovation, research, people and careers in the Australian grains industry.
Students and community members are invited to enter the competition, with the winners of each category receiving $1000, second place $150 and third $50.
The competition is funded by SAGIT and the GRDC, with support from the Royal Agricultural & Horticultural Society.
To be involved, entrants simply need to produce a one minute video showcasing the journey of grains, legumes, oilseeds and pulses from being seed in the ground to food for people and livestock.
Entries are urged to consider topics including best practice science, innovation, farming, food production and the people making it happen – farmers, agronomists, research scientists, food technologists, transporters, marketers, millers, bakers and retailers!
Enter as an individual or a team and enter as many times as you like. Entry is $10 per video clip and entries close at 5pm on August 11.
The top five entries for each category will be played during the Royal Adelaide Show on the Coke Stage and be featured on a rolling loop in the Golden Grains Pavilion.
These finalists will receive free admission to the show on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, for presentations. The winning video clip will be promoted via Facebook and other media channels.
