An increased yarding of 2365 head was offered at Gracemere on May 29 following last week’s wet sale comprising of: 1223 steers, 363 heifers, 295 cows, 55 cows and calves and 26 bulls.
The cattle were mostly from local areas with some lines from Taroom, Nebo, Comet and coastal areas around Mackay.
Quality was generally good with a full gallery of buyers present which kept competition keen and saw values improve across the board.
Slaughter steers top 318c/kg to average 301c/kg, steers 400-500kg made 328c/kg to average 314c/kg, steers 300-400kg topped 390c/kg to average 309c/kg, steers 200-300kg sold to 422c/kg to average 350c/kg. Meanwhile, steers under 200kg sold to 432c/kg to average 399c/kg.
Slaughter cows made 253c to average 225c, cows 400-450kg sold to 251c to average 211c, cows 320-400kg topped 223c to average 197c, while cows under 320kg made 224c to average 209c.
Heavy heifers sold to 334c to average 315c, heifers 300-400kg made 334c to average 302c, heifers 200-300kg sold to 354c to average 292c, whlie those under 200kg sold to 356c to average 327c.

Ben Featherstone Thompson Point sold No7 Brahman cross steers for 388c weighing 257kg to return $1000.
Murray and Vicki Stevens, Westwood, sold Brahman weaner steers to top at 408c, weighing 168kg, to return $688.
Wales Grazing Co, Biloela, sold Simmental cross weaner steers to top at 400.2c, weighing 261kg, to return $1044.
Ken Wilmott and Family, Calliope, sold Brangus steers to top at 396c, weighing 268kg to return $1063.
Benson Pastoral Co, Glenroy, sold 115 crossbred weaner steers to avg. 405c weighing 178kg, returning $721. Jeff Ohl and Family, Gogango, sold Brahman cross steer for 338c, weighing 340kg, to return $1151.
John Cook, Rockhampton, sold crossbred steers to top at 316c, weighing 392kg, to return $1241.
Arora Downs Grazing, Clermont – Sold a quality line of Droughtmaster heifers to top at 334.2c, av 377kg, to return $1242.
David and Tracey Muscat Mirani sold PTIC Brangus cows for $1575. They also sold No7 Brangus heifers to reach 350c to average $690. Lincol Grazing Co, Biloela, sold Brahman cows and calves to top at $1875.
