AS part of a review into statewide feral goat management, Biosecurity SA is seeking feedback from pastoralists on the viability of a temporary district goat depot.
The proposal was raised during a SA Arids Lands Natural Resources Management and Livestock SA forum held in December and would require a change to existing policies.
If established, the temporary depots, funded and operated by pastoralists, could be used to collect trapped or mustered rangeland goats in a central location to provide transport efficiencies.
A survey is being conducted on the topic which will form part of the goat policy review.
A draft of the revised goat policy will be available for public consultation later in the year.
The survey is open to pastoralists until June 1.
