STONEY Point Performance Angus stud at Naracoorte sold young bulls yesterday to $10,000, in a near total clearance.
Stud director Perry Gunner and stud manager Peter Colliver offered up 61 pregnancy-tested in-calf spring cows and 27 PTIC spring cows in nine lots, with all sold to a top of $2040, averaging $2004.
There were 28 bulls also offered, with 27 sold in the auction to $10,000, averaging $5280, while the other passed-in bull sold after the sale.
Kingarth stud principals Andrew and Patrick Taylor, Nairne, bought the top priced bull Stoney Point Lottery L566 after seeing it in the catalogue.
“It was a good looking bull,” Andrew said.
“Good EBVs, well balanced with high growth, particularly eye muscle area.”
Lottery, born October 4, 2015, was sired by Paringa Judd J5 and out of Lawsons Evident H106.
It weighed 714 kilograms at 19 months old and measured +9.8 EMA.
Patrick said the bull would be introduced to Kingarth stud heifers in July.
The top female lot was bought by Landmark Kingston’s Richard Miller, for Landmark Strathalbyn, for eight cows, AI’d by Murdeduke Kicking, Koupals B&B Identity, Deer Valley Patriot 3222, Prime Juggernaut J15, VBR Chieftan 3W21 and TeMania Emperor E343.
Mr Gunner was very happy with the sale, particularly the clearance, and the good spread of buyers.
