Barossa-region Merino breeders had a chance to compare their stock as part of the annual Angaston Hogget Competition.
The overall winner of the day was a hogget ewe from the Saegenschnitters of Truro.

“It had a huge amount of wool,” he said.

The Saegenschnitters also won the open hogget pen of three, with a second pen.
The winning later lambing hogget came from Karinya Station, Moculta, while the pen of three was entered by Brett Nietschke, Koonunga.
The Ag Bureau section had a double win for Wootoonya Props, picking up the hogget entry and pen of three.
In the school’s competition, the winning team came from Eudunda Area School, in its first year of competing.
As well as the competition, the day also included a forum, with a focus on sheep health, particularly what diseases and weeds could be a problem in the coming months.
