THE Gubbins family kicked-off their four-day dispersal last week with a solid sale result for their XSimm Black Simmental stud.
In an 82 per cent clearance, 221 lots sold to $10,000 and averaged $2967.
This rewarded the family for the huge effort they had undertaken in bringing in United States genetics and breeding up numbers, yet was still affordable for buyers in today’s buoyant beef market.
Peter Howarth and Andrew Chapman, Wombramurra Black Simmentals, Trundle, NSW, bought 43 females, including the $10,000 sale-topper, and averaged $3837 in great buying.
Their tally comprised 21 mated autumn-calving females to the equal top of $7000 for this section, two of the ET donor females to $10,000, three PTIC recipients to the $4000 top, 14 spring-calving females to the $6000 equal top and three heifer calves to $3000.
The $10,000 top price female was XSimm Miss Lucky One H2128Z.
The 2012-drop daughter of TNT Tanker V263 was outstanding for phenotype and genotype.
The three recipients Wombramurra bought were carrying embryos from Lucky One’s mating with GW Barck Breakout 667Z.
The sale’s $8000 second-highest price was one of the seven ET donors, XSimm Miss Lucky Strike H2023 by GW Lucky Ace 076TS, bought by Scott York, Jackson, Qld.
The AuctionsPlus network provided strong buying support, securing 41 lots.
Tim and Henry Cartledge, Lancaster Black Simmentals, Meningie, paid the $6000 equal top for the spring-calving females in three select purchases.
Their purchases also included 16 straws of semen at $40 a straw in CCR Cowboy Cut 5048Z – the sire of the top price bull in this sale.
Other SA buyers included Boonarkm Angus, Mount Magnificent, with six lots and Magpie Park Simmentals, Penola, with four lots.
