AgForce, Biosecurity Queensland and the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries supported producers at a community forum in McKinlay on Monday.
The seminar was one of five to be held across the state to inform producers about grazing land management, biosecurity legislation and property biosecurity plans while providing an update on Agforce news.
The Biosecurity Legislation session caught producers attention as they asked questions regarding the new Biosecurity Act that started in July 2016.
Cloncurry DAF stock inspectors, Rachael O’Brien and Ellisa Davis, discussed stock movement and changes to the tick line, the DAF surveillance program and the changes to the Northern Territory Biosecurity Plan.
“Some people have heard different things about the Biosecurity Act 2016, so it was a good opportunity to clear up some confusion producers may have had,” Ms Davis said.
More reports from the day to come in next week’s NQR.
