LOVERS of ice cream and Christmas pudding rejoice – SA’s beloved ice cream manufacturer Golden North has released a special ice cream flavour just in time for Christmas.
Made in Laura in the Mid North with all of the company’s other ice creams, the new pudding flavour is not a new invention.
Despite being made as a Christmas present for employees for years, the company decided this year to spread the festive cheer to all South Australians.
Using the freshest milk and cream direct from South Australian dairy farmers and other ingredients sourced from throughout the state, the joyful flavour features real pieces of raisins and citrus fruits.
“We decided it was time to let everyone else try it,” Golden North marketing and export director Trevor Pomery said.
The company collaborated with Foodland to create it, and Mr Pomery warned the limited edition treat wouldn’t last long.
“It has been very popular and leaving it too late will guarantee missing out,” he said.
Mr Pomery said the company had an exciting year, being inducted into the SA Food Hall of Fame, an award that only 12 other SA companies had received.
“It is more of a lifetime recognition of service and we were honoured. It was an incredible achievement for us,” he said.
The ice cream can be purchased from Foodland.
