A fleet of seven new BlazeAid trailers are ready to help South Australians recover from natural disasters.
The trailers, which contain equipment needed to rebuild fences, were bought and fitted out thanks to a $135,000 donation.
After the Pinery fire in November 2015, Viterra established a Lower North Grain Growers Fire Fund, which local croppers donated parcels of grain to. This raised $102,789.59 and a further $100,000 was donated by Glencore Grain and Viterra.
The final amount of $202,789.59 was split between three charities – BlazeAid, Trees for Life and the Country Women’s Association.
Viterra operations general manager Tim Krause said the trailers would service SA in the event of any natural disaster.
“Viterra is also providing storage for most of the trailers when they’re not being used,” he said.
BlazeAid national equipment coordinator Barry Thompson said the donation went a long way to supporting SA in any future natural disaster.
