PINNAROO Show president Jeremy Schutz may have missed his local show’s centenary, but he was able to bring home the national Rural Ambassador award from the Royal Launceston Show last week in Tas.
The 24-year-old farmer was thrilled to win the prestigious title ahead of outstanding entrants from each state of Australia and New Zealand. He received $5000 in sponsorship from Coca Cola to attend shows across Australia.
He said the past two years had been an “amazing networking opportunity” and the show movement had become “another family”.
“A few years ago a little girl came up to me and thanked me for putting our show on – it makes it all worthwhile when something like that happens,” he said. “Shows highlight what a region has to offer.”
Mr Schutz was also the first person to win both the SA Rural Ambassador and Young Ambassador titles.
In the coming year he is looking forward to promoting shows and agriculture to the next generation.
