MALLALA graingrower Richard Konzag has been announced as the newest board member of the Australian GrainGrowers’ Cooperative, following the organisation’s annual general meeting held after the Hart Field Day last week.
Andy Barr, Pinery, and chairman Andrew Polkinghorne, Lock, were also re-elected as members of the board.
Mr Polkinghorne welcomed Mr Konzag, saying he would bring talent to the team.
“Richard brings years of experience to AGG including qualifications as a graduate from the Institute of Company Directors and service as a GRDC southern panel member,” he said.
Mr Konzag crops about 1800 hectares to wheat, durum, barley, beans, lentils, canola and oaten hay and has served in positions on the SA Advisory Board of Agriculture, the Plant Biosecurity CRC Grains Advisory Panel and the Research Development & Extension Committee of Grain Producers SA.
AGG managing director Bruce McDonald also provided an update at the AGM on the company’s plans for the next 12 months, which include working again with experienced pool manager, grain marketer and accredited exporter Plum Grove.
“This is our second year working with Plum Grove following the restructure and we’ve seen them perform successfully for our members and graingrower participants, so we’re looking forward to working with them again,” he said.
“We know how they operate and they know how we operate, so our strengths are complementary.”
Mr McDonald said with today’s grain prices, he expected a high level of interest from growers in managed programs into the 2016-17 harvest.
“We expect growers will be warehousing stocks this year before deciding what market exposure they want and their cashflow needs so we’re offering several programs specifically tailored to meet those needs,” he said.
This year AGG also launched a new website and social media presence to engage with growers of all ages and locations, enabling them to keep up to date with future program launches.
