THE Ram ‘n’ Ewe Ball at Jamestown will turn 10 this year, with the much-loved event still going strong.
During the past decade, the Ram ‘n’ Ewe Ball has earned a reputation as SA’s best rural ball and the 2016 event looks set to impress.
The theme for this year’s ball is A Night in White with A Touch of Blue, in support of mental health awareness.
“The ball started in 2007 as a way to give local farmers and country people a fun night out and an opportunity to meet like-minded people,” Ram ‘n’ Ewe committee member Charlotte Burmester said.
“It can be tough in the country and maintaining mental wellness is extremely important, so for our 10th year we are bringing the ball back to its roots and will be putting the proceeds from the ball towards mental health awareness and support locally and nationally.”
The popular wrist band matching system will be happening again, with red for couples and green for singles.
“You never know who might have a matching number – we have lots of the same number, which will increase your chances of finding your soul mate,” Charlotte said.
The night’s entertainment will kick off with the speed dating event in the VIP singles bar at the Big Shed, with spots still available for men.
“Sign up for speed dating on the website – this is a great way to meet other singles prior to the doors opening for the Ram ‘n’ Ewe Ball,” Charlotte said. “It’s only once a year you get the opportunity to meet 20-plus other like-minded people from the country looking for the same thing you are.”
Guitarist Brad Bryksy and Aria Acoustic will play a huge range of covers, with DJ Aikman taking requests.
“The committee strongly discourages drink driving, so bring a swag along and camp the night for free at the oval or check out the accommodation page on the website for other options,” she said.
The ball will be held October 29, with tickets $40 if pre-paid via the website or $50 at the door. There is also a limited opportunity to buy five tickets for $180.
This ticket includes entry, a stubby holder and a complimentary drink. A recovery breakfast will be provided on Sunday morning.
