THE Paech family, Inglebrae Holdings, Callington, are hopeful of achieving strong prices for their ewes at today’s Murray Bridge off-shears sale, after they topped the same market last year.
Trevor, Joy and Tyson Paech will offer 70, 1.5-year-old ewes and 140, 5.5-year-old ewes.
Last year they sold 115, 1.5-year-olds to $182.
Trevor said everything was looking positive on the back of good sheep and wool prices and a season that was travelling well, but more rain this week would be more than welcome.
Landmark Murray Bridge’s Kev Keller said there was every chance prices would be up at this year’s off-shears sales.
“There’s a lot of positive signs about the ewe sales this year,” he said.
“The South East hadn’t had a good year for a while, but everything has turned, so I’d expect to see a fair few buyers from that region looking for sheep.”
About 9000 sheep will be yarded at Murray Bridge, similar to last year’s numbers.
