The largest yarding in 15 years graced the pens at the Mareeba Sale last Friday, returning just over $1.8 million.
A total of 2523 head of cattle was yarded, with sale records broken for bulls, cows, heifer, yearling heifers and yearling steers.
Elders Brian Rowling said the sale was one of the best he’d ever witnessed.
He said great prices were achieved across all categories, with just as much money for females as males.
“Restockers from southwest really helped the market along with a couple of local buyers who bought large groups of young cattle,” Mr Rowling.
Mr Rowling said the bulk of the cattle weighed 130 to 280 kg, with some older cattle aged between 24 to 30 months.
The yard average of 301.8c/kg returned an average $722.71/head.
