UNGARRA grain producer Karen Baines has been awarded $10,000 as part Augusta Zadow Awards to improve the work health and safety of working women.
Announced today at Ayers House, Ms Baines was one of 22 proposals to work health and safety across diverse workplaces.
She plans to establish a local network of farm women to undertake a farm safety pilot program aimed at delivering farm safety improvements.
The second recipient of the award was Susan Gordon who will used it to fund an innovative approach to prevention and management of aggression within the aged care sector.
The Augusta Zadow Awards are a showcase event on the SafeWork SA calendar, and serve as a reminder of the importance of improving work health and safety of women in their workplaces.
“Today we remember Augusta Zadow and other leaders like her who lived in a time when women first received many of the rights we take for granted today, including the right to work in safe and fair conditions,” said SafeWork SA Executive Director, Ms Marie Boland.
