RECORDS fell at the Roe Creek saleyards in Alice Springs, NT, on Thursday July 21, with steers making to $3.54 a kilogram.
That was 60 cents a kilogram up on last year’s top price of $2.94/kg.
The top steers were black baldies from Lucy Creek Station, via Alice Springs.
Overall, there were 2029 steers weighing up to 400kg yarded. They sold from $2.85-$3.54/kg and averaged $3.39/kg.
There were 118 steers weighing 400-500kg yarded. They sold from $2.90-$3.38/kg, av $3.29/kg.
Topping the heifer market at $3.42/kg were Droughtmasters from Wallace Ruckhole, Alice Springs.
Heifers sold from $2.50-$3.42/kg and averaged $3.09/kg.
Buyers came from Qld, NSW, SA as well as local NT bidders.
