THE 2016 SA ram selling season got off to a flying start at Yeelanna on Monday.
Jayden Harris’ Brimanna stud achieved a record top of $7000 – up $2000 on last year’s highest price.
A new record average of $1858 was also set – up $215 on the 2015 sale.
There was also full clearance of 63 rams in the main auction.
It was a fitting result for the Harris family, who were celebrating 30 years of on-property auctions.
Landmark SA stud stock manager Gordon Wood said it was great way to start the selling season.
“Achieving a record top price and average is a fantastic result for the stud, and well-deserved,” he said.
“It sets a precedent for the upcoming selling season.
“As the first ram sale for SA in 2016, it's good to see people are prepared to get their hands out of their pockets and bid strongly.”
The sale received excellent support from the Robins family, Yeelanna, who have been buying rams from the Harris family for 50 years and bought 18 rams this year.
