THE monthly Jamestown sheep market was a quick affair on Thursday July 22, with the sale done and dusted within half an hour.
If was almost a case of there being more bidders than sheep, with about 6000 lambs yarded, and plenty of people in attendance.
The Michael family, via Port Augusta, provided the majority of the yarding.
Their top price was for 230 July-August 2014-drop wethers, Moorundie Park-blood, which sold for $91 to Thomas Foods International.
The majority of the yarding was made up of 2015-drop wethers.
The top price for 2015-drop wethers was for 360 July-August-drops, Springvale North-blood, from RN Bailey & Co, Peterborough.
The second highest price for 2015-drop wethers was for 542 Moorundie Park-bloods from the Michael family’s Parakylia station, which made $88 and sold to Princess Royal.
The Michael family’s Partacoona Station sold 426 2015-drop wethers for $86.
DA&BJ Berg, Kimba, sold 180 Dohne ewes, 2010-2013-drops, O’Brien-blood, for $108 to Landmark Broken Hill.
The 2015-drop ewes yarded made from $88-$123.
The next Jamestown sale is on August 18.
