The Limestone Coast’s community foundation has finalised its new direction and growth with the release of a tailored strategic plan.
Stand Like Stone’s plan, which came into effect on July 1 this year, was formed after an exhaustive planning process and outlines the foundation’s commitment to creating a stronger presence in the region.
The plan also outlines the foundation’s goals to provide more accessible and known services for donors and applicants, growth in assets and positive partnerships, which are all to be achieved before the end of June, 2019.
Chairman Bill DeGaris said the strategic direction would act as an essential driver for the board.
“In preparing this new strategic plan, we were mindful that the Limestone Coast … is rich in its diversity and supports a population of over 60,000 people living in seven local government areas,” he said.
“We are mindful of the challenges of building the corpus of the foundation and of investing to obtain reasonable returns on our funds.
“Our strategic plan for 2016-19 is ambitious; it aims to be more inclusive; it aims to be innovative in its approach to fundraising and capital contributions; above all, it is driven by a passion to provide for a better and more caring community.”
The board and executive staff undertook an exhaustive strategic planning process under the leadership of Dr Geoff Wells, from Rural Communities Australia, and all activities of the foundation were examined and evaluated against goals that the board committed to set for the future.
The community’s needs and standards were also examined and focus points were set to reflect these, which will assist the Limestone Coast to grow and prosper.
“We are also very appreciative of the input of community members who assisted us in identifying the key issues and priorities for Stand Like Stone over the next three years,” Mr Degaris said. “Stand Like Stone is proud to be the largest community foundation in South Australia and we look forward to working closely with community to grow this incredible resource for future generations in the Limestone Coast.”
