Sheep graziers have been warned to stay vigilant as wild weather sweeps across the state.
The Bureau of Meteorology issued a warning to sheep graziers in the Mount Lofty Ranges, West Coast, Lower Eyre Peninsula, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula, Kangaroo Island, Flinders, Mid North, Riverland, Murraylands, Upper South East, Lower South East, North West Pastoral and North East Pastoral regions.
Strong northwesterly winds are expected to ease tonight and tomorrow, but the BOM warning said winds combined with cold temperatures, small hail and possible snow down to 500 metres pose a high risk to lambs and sheep exposed to the conditions.
A severe weather warning has been issued for the Adelaide Metropolitan area, the Mount Lofty Ranges, Lower Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula, Kangaroo Island, Mid North, Murraylands, Upper South East and Lower South East, and parts of the West Coast, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Flinders and Riverland.
Damaging winds, with gusts of 90-120 km/h, are forecast in those areas and strong to gale force winds, averaging 50-65 km/h, are possible near the coast and over higher ground within the warning area.
