The next generation of the sheep industry converged on the Adelaide Showground this week for the inaugural SA Sheep Expo. Fifty eight participants aged 12 to 23 years were given an overview of all facets of the industry from genetics to marketing to auctioneering and butchering and shown career pathways. One of the highlights was the shearing demonstration with two gun shearers Shannon Warnest and John Dalla.
The event concluded with the sheep handling classes where each entrant was judged on their sheep preparation and ringcraft skills.
The SA Sheep Expo committee were thrilled with the enthusiasm of the entrants and industry support and hope to grow the event in 2017.
