BLUE ribbon pastoral holding Mount Lyndhurst Station has attracted huge interest in the three weeks it has been advertised, according to Landmark Harcourts South East real estate manager Simon McIntyre.
The 3489-kilometre property on the Strzelecki Track is being sold on a ‘walk-in, walk-out’ basis with livestock and plant, and is expected to make more than $6 million.
“We have been promoting the property in each state and have been getting enquiries from each state,” he said. “We had expected because of its large scale and its excellent reputation of producing good livestock we would get a lot of enquiry and we have.”
Mr McIntyre says the station, located about 80km north-east of Leigh Creek, is showing off “its true characteristics” with nearly 100 millimetres of rain falling since November last year. A major feature is the extensive flood out country and myriad of creeks flowing from the northern Flinders Ranges through the property towards Lake Eyre.
In 2002 it was bought from the hands of receivers and the owners have gradually built up numbers from zero to about 9549 sheep and lambs and 1580 cattle.
But Mr McIntyre says there is the potential to run “many more livestock”, season permitting, with the Pastoral Board’s maximum rating 6800 cattle or 34,000 sheep.
The auction will be held at the Stamford Plaza, Adelaide, on Friday, April 8, at 2pm, if not sold prior.
