IN the 2015 season, durum wheat provided one of the best gross margin crops for farmers.
So, interest is expected to be high in the durum wheat pre-seeding forum being held at the Blyth Hall on Wednesday April 6.
The event has been organised by the Southern Australian Durum Growers Association.
Speakers include SARDI’s Rob Wheeler, who will present a 2015 durum variety report, and durum breeder Dr Jason Able, who will run through highlights of the 2015 durum breeding program and durum breeding strategies.
Glencore Grain’s Benn Oliver will talk about durum marketing on the world scene, while NAB director of markets and commodities Joe Righetti will speak about the economic outlook.

- Imtrade Australia’s John Barbetti – on new chemical solutions to weed control.
- Australian Growers Direct’s Sean Cole – will give an Australian pulse market update.

- Grain Growers’ David Evans – on the online crop management system Production Wise.
- Riverton farmer Mark McInerney – on how durum wheat fits into his farm program.
The event is being held from 8.30am to 1pm.
