BORDERTOWN's KD stud set a cracking pace for other Dohne ram sales this season with a near-total clearance and $1993 average on Monday.
Stud principals Kym, Kathy and Tyke Staude were richly rewarded for their breeding foresight, passing-in just one ram from nearly 100 Dohnes, White Dorpers and composites in their third annual on-property sale.
KD's 10 full-blood White Dorper rams averaged $1070 and 27 Coolalee-White Dorper-White Suffolk composites averaged $941 in a sale dominated by Lower South East buyers.
But when the sale changed sheds, bidding really stepped up a gear with 12 of the first 22 Dohne rams making more than $2000 and the average jumping $868 on the 2009 sale.
