FREE Australia Party leader and Legislative Council candidate Paul Kuhn, Morphett Vale, went to law school as a mature age student, discovering "the injustices in this country" and a desire to deal with them in the process.
FREE is an acronym for Freedom Rights Environment Educate and Kuhn says the party's core is to stand up for individual sovereignty, which includes topics such as farmers' rights to water "falling out of the sky".
"Governments are busy taking that away," he said.
"We are also looking at overseas trade, where I think it's disgusting that all of these things are regulated by government to the degree that individual sovereignty is no more.
"We also have national sovereignty of course, which means we are interested in making decisions to the benefit of us and not some vested corporation overseas."
Kuhn says there needs to be accountability in what the government tries to do. With few MLCs of the same mindset, there would be a greater chance of poor legislation not being passed.
"If we hold the balance of power, which would be the most wonderful outcome possible, then we would have a far greater say," he said.
