WIDESPREAD bidding from across Australia ensured all tractors and sundries owned by the late John Calvert found new homes at the family's on-property clearing sale at Field, via Coonalpyn, last Friday.
But despite the strong interest from the 94 registered bidders, prices failed to reach expectation because of the flat nature of the market.
All 46 tractors offered sold to a top of $10,700 paid for an original and complete 1949 Lanz Bulldog P in good condition itwas bought by Lawrie Voutier, Weerite, Victoria.
Featuring in the higher prices was one of John's favourites - a 1929 Hart-Parr 18-36, restored to good condition with new guards, drive cover and tank and a rear set of steel wheels included in the $8400 price, also bought by Mr Voutier.
Making $6150 was a 1920 Case 15-27, bought by Jono Berry, Keith. He mainly collects Olivers but he also bought a Minneapolis Moline G1000, a 1951 Oliver 90, a 1938 Oliver 80, and a Minneapolis Moline GTB at an average of $2070.
Jabuk farmer and tractor collector Ian Farley bought two tractors, one being an original and complete 1948 John Deere D for $6000. He also bought an original and complete International W6 with hydraulics for $1450.
Local bidder Peter Saint, Meningie, outlaid $3800 for a 1937 Allis-Chalmers A tractor.
Despite the paint colour not being quite right, the tractor had been restored to very good condition with good tyres.
Robert Uphill, Kongorong, bought a 1937 Allis-Chalmers U, restored to very good condition, for $3200.
Mr Uphill bought two more tractors, both Massey Harris makes, for a $1533 average.
Among the volume buyers of tractors was Trevor Yard, Murrayville, Vic, who bought four to $1600 for two different Minneapolis Moline tractors, av $1200.
