LEADING precision agriculture and software company Trimble, has bought Canadian agricultural consultant network, Agri-Trend in another move in the ever evolving big data game.
Agri-Trend operates the largest independent network of ag consultants in North America and Trimble said the buyout will allow it to provide agronomists and advisors with a stronger box of ‘brand-agnostic’ tools they can use to advise growers and help them better manage their farms.
It is expected the relationship will marry Agri-Trend’s expertise in agronomy, grain marketing, data and farm business management with Trimble’s precision ag credentials to allow growers to tap into full cycle farm management services.
Agri-Trend has more than 200 specialists in the US and Canada including over 110 independent "coaches" specialising in agronomy, precision farming, crop marketing and farm business management.
The business model sees the coaches supported by a team of scientists as well as using the company’s Agri-Data farm data management tools.
Agri-Trend founder Rob Saik, reckoned the “combination of our advanced agricultural technical expertise and Trimble's exceptional precision agriculture tools provides us with a platform that will support production practices that are sustainable both from an environmental and financial perspective for today's farmers.
