The Oaks score champion fleece

This year's show featured 70 fleeces entered by pastoralists from across the state.

The event was judged by Port Augusta Elders wool manager Charlie Rowe and Landmark SA wool operations manager Adrian Dewell.

Mr Dewell said The Oaks' fleece - which came first in the adult fine section - was a great example of the quality being produced in the bush.

"As far as I was concerned that fleece displayed was an all-round package and was everything you want to see in a fleece," he said.

"It was white and bright, it had good style and character and it was very crimpy and very even.

"The fleece also had quite a long, consistent staple length."

Mr Rowe said there was a good, even line-up of wools in all of the classes.

"For each section, there wasn't a big gap between the classes," he said.

The event is expected to raise about $5300 for the School of the Air and the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
