A STRONG penning of 28 young Suffolk rams were offered by Mark, Karen, Mitchell and Logan Dennis, Kurrabi Park, Koppia, at their second on-property auction on August 25.
Of the 28 offered, 22 sold to a top of $1400 and averaged a solid $764. Seven bidders secured from one to six rams.
The top ram, Kurrabi Park 54/13 Twin, was a July-drop son of Burwood 100058 and had the third-highest growth estimated breeding value in the catalogue, plus an ideal fat cover.
It was bought by new client Craig Skinner, representing the family business CD&JM Skinner, Cockaleechie.
Mr Skinner bought four rams in total at a $1038 average.
Repeat clients N&A Maddern, Yeelana, who bought last year's top-price ram also operated at the top end of the sale.
The two rams they bought this year were at $1300 and $1050 - the sale's second and third top prices.
The $1300 ram was another son of Burwood 100058, while the $1050 ram was a son of KP100001, having the equal highest growth index in the offering.
MA&JC Horn, Cleve, were the biggest volume buyers, securing six rams at big value, paying from $500 to $850 and at an average of $592.
