WETHER lambs sold to $126 at the Edenhope, Vic, annual first-cross wether lamb sale on Thursday last week.
There were 4700 sheep yarded and the top two lines at the sale were knocked down to Thomas Foods International.
The first pen, which also made the top price, was a line of 151 wether lambs, seven months and September shorn, from McKenzie & Dearden, Bringalbert South, Vic.
The same vendor also made the second highest price of $113, for a line of 75 wethers.
Rodwells Edenhope branch manager David Hanel said the quality of the yarding was outstanding.
"The yarding is a testament to the breeding of the Edenhope area," he said.
WD,RG&NW Robinson, Edenhope, sold 413 wethers, six months and October shorn, for $110.
Regular sellers TJ&SJ Futerieal, Edenhope, sold 137 wethers, six months, and October shorn, for $106.
Frew Stawell, Vic, was a major buyer, snapping up a line of 71 from J&KA Futerieal, Edenhope, for $97, 369 from WD,RG&NW Robinson for $95, 59 at $89.50 from G&WM Robertson, Edenhope, 117 at $84 from Pembroke Pastoral, Douglas, Vic, and 121 Dohne-Merino wethers from WD&PK Caldow, Edenhope, for $96.
The third draft of the McKenzie & Dearden wethers was bought by Frew Stawell, with 39 selling for $94.
Landmark Ballarat, Vic, was another major buyer, taking 390 wethers from Danny West, Westwood, Edenhope, at $105, 207 from WH Kealy & Sons, Patyah, Vic, for $106.50 and 135 from JS&EM Staude, Pigeon Ponds, for $103.50.
FA,MH&GA Nolan, Harrow, Vic, sold 88 wethers for $92, and fellow Harrow farmers WT&JM McClure sold 160 at $90.50.
