THE McArdle family, Taljar Polwarth stud, Parndana, KI, continued to fly the flag for the breed at this year's RAS.
David and Lynne and their children Jared and Talisa showed a great selection of rams and ewes.
The McArdle family's stud has been running since 1993, but Talisa and Jared's grandfather Vincent had been running Polwarths on the island since 1956.
"They are a true dual-purpose sheep, and they're great mothers," Talisa said.
"We average 21 micron wool with a five to six kilogram wool cut.
"They are very easy care.
"The really beautiful thing about them is that they are so quiet. You can handle them easily, as they are just so docile.
"They are real all-rounders, you still get the outstanding wool, but you also get really good lambs out of them."
The McArdles' champion ram was a June 2013-drop.
It weighed 124.5kg, with a fat score of 8 and 42 millimetres eye muscle depth.
The ram's fleece was 19.3M, with 3.9 standard deviation, 19.6 coefficient of variation and 98 per cent comfort factor.
The November-shorn ram was also shown at the Australian Sheep and Wool Show in Bendigo, Vic last year, where it won junior champion ram.
Judge Jan Hunt, formerly of the now-dispersed Wye stud, Mount Gambier, said the ram was "outstanding, with a great carcase".
The champion ewe was also a June 2013-drop.
The ewe weighed 91kg, with a fat score of 10 and 41mm EMD. Its fleece was 20.5M with 3.4SD, 16.6CV and 99.3CF.
Ms Hunt said the champion ewe carried a "lovely fleece of wool".
