KEITH buyers continued to get behind their local Bugle Downs Poll Dorset stud, with the entire on-property annual ram sale catalogue remaining within a 70-kilometre radius of the stud.
John, Trish, Tim and Trudie Hedges sold 55 of their 63 May 2013-drop rams for a very solid $807 average.
Many of these rams with great length and easy fleshing ability went to long-time clients.
All 14 registered bidders became successful buyers.
A high of $1500 was reached three times early in the sale. Two of these well-muscled rams went to Bungalally Farms and one to Ray and Nick Clark, Bergan Park.
Bungalally Farms - buyer of the top ram thrice in the past four years - found the number-one ranked ram from the stud on Stockscan as one of their $1500 picks.
For the same price, Bergan Park bought the heaviest ram at 134 kilograms with a eye muscle area of 36.22 square centimetres.
Haydn and Poppy Lines, Lines family Partnership, Keith, led the charge with 14 rams averaging $664.
Rodney and Paul Bartlett, LCH Bartlett & Partners, and Spence Dix & Co's Rodney Dix buying for Rockallen Pastoral Co, Willalooka, bought seven rams to a $1100 and $800 high respectively.
There were plenty of great buys later in the sale, with 15 rams selling at the $600 base price.
John Hedges said it was always disappointing not to achieve a total clearance but he was pleased with the strong support from repeat buyers, especially in the top end of the catalogue.
