LEENALA Poll Dorset stud, Naracoorte, claimed the grand champion ram and supreme titles in Poll Dorset judging with a ram which dwarfed his opposition.
NSW judge Ben Prentice, Kurralea Park, Ariah Park, could not go past the 137.5-kilogram sire with an eye muscle depth of 45 millimetres and fat depth of 9mm for his "sheer scale and power".
"He was a big ram in his class but in the championship he was still a big ram," Mr Prentice said. Leenala 14/521, top of the May 2014-drop, was also the senior champion as an excellent example of the Poll Dorset breed in type and structural correctness.
"He is very clean, which is one of the most important things in the breed to keep wool off the face and legs."
It was the second year in a row that Leenala principals Alan and Lyn Schinckel had taken out the top honour.
The ram was a son of homebred sire Leenala 186, which also sired the 2011 Royal Adelaide Show grand champion ram.
